- Date: 2009-05-23 03:19 pm

- Home is often called a blissful place, a paradise for the owner on earth, that shelters and protects, relaxes and de-stresses, soothes and calms the tired individual who walks in through the door. The home is too much a part of the occupant and all aspects and accessories in the home have an impact on him. Every part of the home must serve as a balm and bring joy. However, sometimes one finds that all is not well, and the peace, that is so very important for a happy life, seems to be missing. According to Chinese Science, this could be attributed to the conflict of elements and some negativity present within the four walls of the home. The problem could be resolved by the science of Feng Shui.
Feng Shui is simply an instrument of change that will transform the “feel†of a place. It is based on a set of principles that help to balance the flow of energy within the home and the areas surrounding it, and this in turn can have a positive impact on one’s life. Ideally Feng Shui must be used to find the best location to build a home. Modern urban living and financial constraints may not permit this option and people may have set up a home without any idea about the positive or negative flow of energy according to Feng Shui principles. In such cases, it may be possible to find solutions alternatives to regulate the positive forces of energy within the existing home. Negative energy manifests itself in the form of stress, loss, bad health, lack of peace and harmony, and troubled relationships. Positive energy symbolizes peace, harmony, good health, positive relationships and inflow of wealth.
Feng Shui helps in removing obstructions in the positive flow of energy. It also implies decorating the home with compatible elements using tools like mirrors, plants, colors, water fountains, wooden artifacts, red colored objects that signify the element of fire, earth elements signified by terracotta objects and tiles, and so on. Besides this, de-cluttering is a basic principle of Feng Shui. Space may be a constraint but the design must be free flowing so as to avoid obstructions even in a small area. The home must be devoid of old and unused things; all discarded accessories must be given away and not kept in the house. Similarly old clothes, old books, broken pieces must all be thrown or given away. The old must give way to the new and a new wave of positives will envelop the home.
